October 8, 10 000 runners from 52 countries took part in the 8th Kyiv International Marathon «Wizz Air Kyiv City Marathon 2017».
Adult participants overcame both the main distance (42,195 km), the semi-marathon (21,0975 km) and 10 km, 5 km and 2 km distances as well. Children were offered to compete in 100 m, 500 m and 1000 m.
This year some new distances and cups were included in the event: Safety Cup 5 km (the security forces), Guide Run 5 km (the blind running with guides), Family run 2 km (children and adults), University Cup 2 km (students), Chamber Cup (corporate teams).
It's impossible to imagine a sport event without records. The marathon was no exception here. Nikol Kniazeva became the first 7-year-old girl in Ukraine who had completed a full half marathon. Yulia Chernytska became the first Ukrainian woman to run a half marathon with twin daughters in a stroller.
To help the participants to overcome the distance representatives of 'Running starts in Kyiv' fan zone, jointly arranged by the Tourism and Promotion Department of the Kyiv City State Administration and «X-Park» Extreme Park, supported and encouraged the runners.
